    Using locally grown rye (100% rye mash bill), it was fermented and distilled to Macaloney’s best practices methods to create a creamy mouth-feel and super fruity expression, and then matured in a Portuguese red wine 225L STR barrique.

    This inaugural release of our first-ever wheat whisky just won 'Canadian Best Wheat Whisky' at the prestigious Canadian Whisky Awards where the pride of Canada compete.  To win 'Best in Canada' is a great achievement worthy of celebration!

     

    Using locally grown wheat it was fermented and distilled to Macaloney's best practices methods to create a creamy mouth-feel and super fruity expression. It was then matured in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro  Ximénez 225L barriques, brought in from the best Sherry supplier in Jerez (who also supply MacAllan and Glendronach).

     

    Nose: 
    Our fruity house-style, overlaid with wheat and Sherry casks, presents dusty wheat grain and cereal notes, with PX Sherry, kiwi, blackcurrant, and stewed apples leading to thick-cut, dark marmalade jam. Sweet oak spices and vanilla combine with dark chocolate orange, a hint of menthol, and treacle toffee for a complex, layered experience.
    Palate:
    The rich and creamy mouth-feel leads to sweet, Sherried, thick-cut marmalade and wheat cereal akin to Shreddies breakfast cereal. This is followed by vanilla, wood spices, cinnamon and delicate hints of menthol and peppermint. Overall, it is reminiscent of mulled Sherry-wine with orange-peel, cloves and cinnamon. Quite delectable!

    Nose: 
    Classic Canadian rye with sweet oak and rye spices, fresh ground black pepper, dried figs and dried apricot and geranium flowers, leading to caramel and vanilla fudge.
    Palate:
    This is a big rye whisky with a rich and creamy mouth-feel. The sweet red wine develops to clove, cinnamon and nutmeg, black liquorice, roasted hazelnut and molasses. Together they are reminiscent of a festive season feast of mulled red wine with fresh baked rye bread, topped with light strawberry jam! A worthy gold medal Canadian rye!
