Invermallie: Port

This whisky is from our ‘classic’ single malt island whisky range – double distilled using only the best malted barley available. The patient, yet purposeful, distillation passed down to our Whiskymaker by the legendary Dr. Jim Swan produces a complex, layered and balanced ‘clearach’ (new-make spirit). Dr. Swan described the newmake that trickles off our copper pot stills as “the best that I have tasted in any distillery at this stage, super fruity”.

Invermallie is our connoisseurs / collector’s edition. Like the flowing river Mallie, it is an ever-changing series of classic single malt expressions based on unique one-off single casks, or other special selections. With individually numbered bottles, it is sought after by those who appreciate fine whisky.

This Invermallie special release was selected from a single Portuguese Port wine barrique. Port, a sweet fortified red wine, adds a beautiful ruby hue to our whisky and gentle Port wine notes, tropical fruits, demerara sugar, orange chocolate, big oak and a hint of leather on the nose. The palate is creamy and full bodied with red currant, tangerine, cherry, and marmite, developing to black currant and candied orange zest with a lingering, tangy dry oak finish and a subtle sulphur base which adds structure to the whisky.
